FIELD: environment protection, particularly to localize oil spills and clean water surface of oil spots.
SUBSTANCE: method involves providing oil absorbing material; dispersing thereof over contaminated surface; collecting absorbing material after oil is absorbed by the material; separating oil from absorbing material. Endothermic reagent is solved in water before oil absorbing material dispersion. The oil absorbing material is snow or ice, which are produced by snow generator or ice generator installed onboard of oil gathering ship or of oil transportation ship. Oil is separated from snow by snow melting. The endothermic reagent is, for instance, ammonium nitrate.
EFFECT: increased rate of oil gathering, reduced costs and time for oil spill liquidation and improved ecological safety.
