FIELD: gas chromatography. SUBSTANCE: invention can also be utilized for determination of distribution constant and other physical-chemical quantities such as Henry's constant of volatile substance while studying sorption equilibriums in system of nonvolatile liquid-gas. Salient feature of way consists in metering out of examined substances into evaporator of chromatograph and in transfer of their vapors by flow of carrier gas into chromatographic column for separation and subsequent detection, in determination of reduced times of holding of examined substances and total holding time of non-sorbing substance from which time of passage through out-of-column volumes is excluded. Total holding time of non-sorbing substance is measured from moment of registration of maximum of peak of portion of sample passing after evaporator through by-pass line escaping chromatographic column. In addition time from start of registration by detector of front of zone of non-sorbing substance to recording of maximum of its concentration is taken into account. Device for realization of way has source of carrier gas, evaporator, chromatographic column with by-pass line and detector. Inlet and outlet of chromatographic column and by-pass line are linked with the help of tee-joints correspondingly to evaporator and detector, by-pass line comes in the form of small-section capillary and includes pneumatic resistor across inlet and tee-joint at outlet of chromatographic column and by-pass line is connected to detector by means of small- section capillary brought close to sensitive element.
