FIELD: metallurgy of rare-earth metals; production of valuable elements such as osmium from wastes of copper process. SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes sublimation of organic components from initial raw material (sulfuric slimes) in reducing medium. Then, sublimation of metals by hydro-metallurgical method is performed in reactors at addition of diluted sulfuric acid and oxidant. Remaining cake is granulated, dried at temperature of 40-50 C and heated in shaft furnace at temperature of 450-500 C. Then, osmium is extracted from exhaust gases by standard method. Proposed method ensures selective and effective (up to 98%) extraction of osmium into gas phase from lean wastes of copper process. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency. 3 cl, 1 tbl
