METHOD FOR INCREASING SEED PRODUCTIVITY OF COMMON LICORICE IN NATURAL OVERGROWTH OF LOWER LAND ALONG THE VOLGA Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

Abstract RU 2227970 C1

FIELD: agriculture. SUBSTANCE: the present innovation could be applied for developing licorice industry due to sowing seeds and increasing productivity of wild overgrowth by additional sowing common licorice and the Urals licorice of high productivity in places of their growing, predominantly in eastern Lower Land along the Volga. The method includes soybean harvesting and their threshing. In wild overgrowth of common licorice of arid, liman and floodplain ecotypes in early spring period due to rototilling at the depth of 3.5- 6.5 cm in strips of up to 2 m width one should suppress competitive varieties of meadow grass and eliminate vegetative sprouts, stubble field and dead mass of common licorice. In strips it is necessary to plant nectariferous soybean varieties, predominantly zoned sorts of white sweet clover, meadow clover, blue-hybrid alfalfa, bird's foot trefoil, etc. Harvesting should be carried out if reservations between the strips due to mowing down licorice's sprouts and soybeans' deseeding. Beans separated from stalks are dried and threshed by applying stationary threshers. Dried seeds should be calibrated by their size and weight to be further packed in crimped packaging of 5-25 kg weight by consumer's demand. Vegetative mass after mowing and deseeding should be reduced at cutting length being 50-150 mm. Cutting should be distributed at the surface of mowed strip. The width of strips under rototilling should be performed being divisible by seeders' working width. The width of reservation areas should be established to be either equal or divisible by working width of combines' harvesters. Standardized working width corresponds to 1.8; 2.6; 3.2; 4.1; 5.0 and 6.0 m. In occupied strips with nectariferous varieties one should add pollinators of common licorice flowers, predominantly with wild bees-leafcutters. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 3 cl, 2 dwg, 1 tbl
