FIELD: mechanical engineering; testing facilities and methods. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods and system of checking wear of outer layer of article, for instance, conveyor belt coating check system. Proposed system has transmit-receive device creating constantly electromagnetic field. Ferromagnetic layer with high magnetic permeability is built in coating. Said layer screens transponder included in conveyor from electromagnetic field until it is not damaged by wear. Transmit-receive device identifies wear basing of data received from transponder as this case ferromagnetic layer is damaged on large area.
