FIELD: refractory materials. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to composition of refractory mortar designed for preparing masonry mortars in manufacture of large-size refractory parts and linings of heat assemblies in metallurgy. Refractory mortar contains 84- 92% of magnesium oxide in the form of fine-grain caked periclase powder fraction 0.5-0 mm and finely ground caked periclase fraction below 0.09 mm at ratio (3-4):1 and, additionally, 5-10% of refractory clay fraction below 0.09 mm with at least 28% alumina therein. As phosphate binder in the mortar, 3-6% of sodium polyphosphate fraction at least 0.09 mm is used.
