FIELD: gas treatment. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to sorption engineering and can be used to remove toxic substances from air and in solving a wide spectrum of environmental problems. Preparation of catalyst comprises providing impregnation solution of catalytic additives containing (wt %) copper 4.6- 7.6, molybdenum 1.5-3.1, zinc 2.6-4.2, silver 0.10-0.15, and triethylenediaminem 2.5-5.0, followed by impregnating activated carbon grains with this solution and their heat treatment, said activated carbon having micropore volume 0.40-0.55 the total pore volume. Impregnated grains are allowed to lie during 1.0-2.0 h, after which they are subjected to heat treatment at bed temperature 120-135 C. EFFECT: prolonged protective efficiency of catalyst in small beds. 3 ex
