FIELD: controlling iron-ore pellet production process by roasting doped pelletized iron-ore concentrate on conveying machine. SUBSTANCE: method includes use of mathematical model of process, algorithms for adapting mathematical model in compliance with current information about process, and algorithms for optimizing pellet roasting process in order to generate control actions. Grain size distribution, bulk weight, chemical composition, and flowrate of raw pellets are continuously checked and their variations are compensated for by using information about grain size distribution and/or bulk weight, and flowrate of pellets in pellets layer gas-dynamic control algorithm; information about chemical composition of pellets is used in algorithm controlling temperature and filtration conditions lengthwise of conveying machine at the same time minimizing power requirement for pellet roasting by means of optimization algorithm. Mathematical model of heat treatment process has full description of kinetics of drying and heating processes, physicochemical and pellet reinforcing processes occurring in layer thereby ensuring optimal control of roasting process for various pellets made of concentrates of different chemical composition and oxidation level, doped with different reinforcing and fluxing additives.
