FIELD: electrical engineering; manufacture of lead storage batteries. SUBSTANCE: method includes following procedures. Plate blocks 1 interconnected by binding posts 2 are inserted in monoblock compartments against two paired holes 4 made in monoblock partition 3. Then part of metal of interplate-joint binding posts is indented under action of axial compressive force in holes 4 of monoblock partition 3 by means of punches 5 provided with two parallel spherical bosses 6. As soon as binding posts of interplate joint come in contact with holes 4, resistance welding is effected and at the same time compressive force is released. Resistance welding of interplate-joint binding posts is made at time t = 80-100 periods, current J = 16-17.5 kA, and axial force applied to punches P = 57-59 kg/sq. cm. EFFECT: enhanced capacity and improved quality of welding of interplate-joint binding posts. 1 cl, 2 dwg
