Invention proposes an agent with sobering effect and attenuating the development of post-intoxicating alcoholic syndrome. As an active component the agent comprises elecampane herb an aqueous extract prepared by extraction of the parent vegetable material with 10-50 volumes of water at temperature not exceeding 70 C and comprising 0.04 weight %, not less, of fraction of unoxidized phenolic compounds. Elecampane flowers are used also. Intake of agent provides the accelerated elimination of alcohol evaluated by reducing alcohol concentration in expired air.
