FIELD: printing industry; transportation of newspapers and magazines. SUBSTANCE: printed matter 3 is delivered by conveyor 1 to placed 4 of transfer at constant speed v1 in form of cascade S in which distances a1-a4 between printed matters 3 following each other are different. Grips 12 of outgoing conveyor 2 take groups of printed matters 3 in place 4 of transfer. Grips 12 are arranged in series in direction B of transportation of outgoing conveyor 2 at constant distance D from each other. Measures are taken to provide of printed matters 3 at constant speed v1 without changing distance a1-a4 between printed matters 3 following each other into mouth 15 of grips 12 so that each grip 12 takes away number of printed matters 3 delivered to grip at the same relative distance a', a" as distance in cascade S. Use of deflecting device 16 guarantees that printed matters 3 taken by grip 12 in definite number will be transferred without changing their relative distance a1-a4 into following grip 12. Invention provides accurate and reliable gripping of printed matters by grips of outgoing conveyor excluding damage or deformation of printed matters delivered to place of transfer in cascade at different distances between printed matters.
