FIELD: petroleum processing. SUBSTANCE: catalytic cracking of petroleum fractions is conducted in presence of platinum catalyst containing on carrier composed of 5-20% zeolite Y and 80-95% aluminosilicate, zeolite Y being obtained synthetically and having silica-to-alumina molar ratio 5.5-10.0 and 100% crystallinity. Catalyst, more specifically, contains, wt %: aluminum oxide 5.5-10.0, rare-earth element oxides 0.5-4.0 (lanthanum oxide 0.45-3.2, cerium oxide 0.005-0.8). platinum 0.0001-0.1, iron oxide 0.01-0.4, calcium oxide 0.01-0.5, magnesium oxide 0.01-0.5, sodium oxide 0.01-0.5, and silicon oxide - the balance.
