FIELD: petroleum processing. SUBSTANCE: catalyst is prepared by mixing aluminum sulfate and sodium silicate solutions with zeolite NaY suspension (silica ratio 4.5-9.5) in mixer to form aluminosilicate zeolite-containing hydrosol, which further coagulates into bead-shaped hydrogel in mineral oil layer. Hydrogel is then subjected to syneresis in sodium sulfate solution, activation by ammonium nitrate or sulfate solution, activation by solution of rare-earth element nitrates, washing, drying, and calcination for 68-75 h in steam-air mix flow with 18-30 vol % off steam. Catalyst is molded in mineral oil having density kg/m3 and viscosity 25-50 mm2/s at 50o with shift into greater side of the size distribution maximum for catalyst granules. Granules after washing and before drying are steamed using live steam. EFFECT: increased catalytic activity, reduced shrinkage, fissuring, and improved economical efficiency of production. 2 cl, 2 dwg, 3 tbl, 7 ex
