METHOD OF DEMINERALIZATION OF WATER IN AN ELECTRODIALYZER Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

Abstract RU 2230036 C1

FIELD: production of drinking water in power and chemical and other industries. SUBSTANCE: the invention presents a method of a demineralization of water in an electrodialyzer and it is dealt with electrochemical technology and may be used in power, chemical, metallurgical, dairy branches of industry for water treatment to produce drinking water. The offered method of a demineralization of water in electrodialyzer with alternating cation-exchange and anion-exchange diaphragms, that form chambers of concentration and demineralization, with a periodic reversal of the electric current direction and simultaneous switching of streams directions in the chambers of demineralization and concentration, where in the process of demineralization they use two pairs electrodes working alternately for the electric current direction reversal. At that the anode of one pair of electrodes and the cathode of the other pare of electrodes are located on one side of a press-filter package; anodes are made out of a film-forming metal with coating out of metal oxides and cathodes are made out of a non-corroding metal. The method provides a possibility to achieve the higher densities of the current increasing a degree of water demineralization and to increase productivity of the process. EFFECT: the invention allows to achieve the higher densities of the current increasing a degree of water demineralization and to increase productivity of the process. 14 cl, 1 tbl, 1 dwg, 13 ex
