FIELD: production of drinking water in chemical industry and metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: the invention presents a method of demineralization of water, it and is dealt with electrochemical technology and may be used in power, chemical, an iron and steel industry, predominantly, for production of drinking potable water. The method of demineralization of water provides for its passing through a package of ion-exchange membranes and spacers located between two electrodes with production of diluent and salt brine, in which at water passing through between the electrodes they are additionally washed by electrolyte with saltiness of 2 up to 36 g/l. Technical result is reduction of power consumption and increase of productivity. EFFECT: the invention allows to reduce power consumption and to increase of productivity of the process. 2 cl, 4 ex
