SUBSTANCE: invention relates, in particular, to foodstuffs eliciting with biocide properties. Foodstuff represents 2-(1-hydroxy-4-hydroxyphenylene)-benzoquinone or 2-(1-hydroxy-4-hydroxyphenylene)-benzoquinone crystal hydrate. Method for preparing involves mixing hydroquinone, H2O2 and water, the addition of 0.001-0.04% of ferrous salts of the mass mixture, neutralization of mixture after reaction running and isolation of the prepared product. 2-(1-Hydroxy-4-hydroxyphenylene)-benzoquinone is used as component of supplement to foodstuffs or as component of biocide preparation. Invention provides preparing the substance that represents the effective food supplement that combines biocide and antioxidant properties.
