HIGH-PRESSURE SEALING MEMBER FOR DETACHABLE JOINTS Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

Abstract RU 2230959 C1

FIELD: high-pressure equipment used in units and equipment for pressurizing of detachable joints of pipelines, channels, body parts, valve-seat type connections etc.

SUBSTANCE: sealing member has part with conical seat making continuation of cylindrical channel, and locking member, which is in contact with seat. Working end of locking member is defined by conical surface making continuation of cylindrical shank. Joint of seat conical and cylindrical surfaces is made in the form of rounded portion. Additional conical surface is formed at junction zone of conical surface of working end of locking member and cylindrical shank. Angle of taper of additional conical surface is less than angle of taper of conical surface of working end. Junction portions of additional conical surface, cylindrical shank and conical surface are made in the form of channel. Rounded portions and channel-shaped portions have same curvature sign. Radius of seat rounded portion is less than radius of channel-shaped portion of locking member. Initial contact line of said members is arranged on additional conical surface of locking member and rounded portion of seat. Height of additional conical surface is equal to maximal possible height and radius of seat rounded portion is equal to minimal possible radius, at which required contact stress and absence of residual strain are provided. Angle of taper of locking member is less than angle of taper of seat. Diameter of locking member shank is less than diameter of seat channel by values preventing materials from flowing into gaps.

EFFECT: wider range of operating pressures, enhanced reliability in operation and increased service life owing to increased admissible contact stress, decreased axial force required for pressurization of sealing members and reduced sensitivity to overloads.
