FIELD: measuring technique, particularly investigating the cutting ability of tools.
SUBSTANCE: method involves testing carbide cutting insert under different temperatures; constructing graphs; calculating critical values on the base of inflection points of graph presenting temperature dependence on logarithm of cutting insert hardness with the use of these points, which form straight line. Instrumental coefficient for tested cutting insert is determined by comparing above inclined straight line with predetermined data.
EFFECT: reduced time consumption.
