METHOD FOR DETERMINING CUTTING SPEED ENSURING MAXIMUM CUTTER PERFORMANCE WHEN TURNING DIFFICULT-TO-CUT STEELS AND ALLOYS USING PREFABRICATED CUTTERS WITH REPLACEABLE CUTTING CARBIDE INSERTS Russian patent published in 2023 - IPC B23B1/00

Abstract RU 2806933 C1

FIELD: metal cutting.

SUBSTANCE: method for determining the cutting speed that ensures maximum performance of the cutter when turning difficult-to-cut steels and alloys using prefabricated cutters with replaceable cutting carbide inserts, including determining the cutting speed at which the type of chip changes from continuous to elemental. An accelerometer is installed vertically on the holder of the prefabricated cutter. Preliminary processing of the workpiece is carried out at different cutting speeds V with recording of the time signal of the main component of vibration acceleration Az(t) and the type of chips coming off. The time signal of vibration acceleration is recorded during turning of the workpiece at different cutting speeds. The cutting speed, which ensures maximum performance of the cutter, corresponds to an abrupt change in the root-mean-square value of the main component of the vibration acceleration of the assembled cutter and lies in the range between the critical point of the first derivative of the function Az(V), after which an increase in its value follows by more than 200%, and the inflection point of the function Az( V), constructed based on the results of preliminary processing of the workpiece at different cutting speeds V with recording of the time signal of the main component of vibration acceleration Az(t) of the cutter during turning.

EFFECT: ensures a reduction in the labor intensity of determining and maintaining the cutting speed, which ensures maximum performance of the cutters.
