FIELD: dyes, analytical chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for determination of residual content of disinfecting agent in water, in particular, to an aqueous solution of azodye for the indicated aim. Invention describes stable aqueous solution containing azodye wherein color and intensity of color of this azodye change in the presence of chlorine dioxide. This azodye is taken among Amaranth or Blue Evans and an aqueous solution contains also borate buffer and one or some masking agents that are able to react with free chlorine. Invention describes also a method for preparing this solution and it using for determination of residual chlorine dioxide in water.
