METHOD FOR LIQUIDATION OF OPEN FOUNTAINS AT OIL AND GAS WELLS Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

FIELD: oil and gas extractive industry.

SUBSTANCE: method includes taking away fluid, covering and controlling of fountain, treatment of flame by means of spraying with cooling fluid, for example, water. At the beginning, operations for cleaning of territory surrounding mouth of fountain well, in area of heat of torch, of metallic constructions. Also, at first cable members of crane are sprayed, on which traverse is suspended, and bracket of replaced mouth equipment in connection to draining branch pipe on traverse, and slings for connecting traverse to crane frame. Then, mouth equipment is inserted in connection to branch pipe into fountain well. During its full engagement with column flange spraying of cable slings on well mouth is performed, which slings are let through apertures for studs in column flange and lower flange of engaged replacing mouth equipment in connection to branch pipe. After full engagement of equipment and displacement of flame through branch pipe to safe height, spraying of cable slings and traverse slings on well mouth and crane frame and traverse respectively is stopped. Spaying of cables of crane for traverse suspension, of slings of replaced mouth equipment on traverse is continued until traverse is disengaged from mounted mouth equipment and crane outlet. Well plugging is then performed.

EFFECT: uninterrupted emergency maintenance operations during whole cycle of open fountain liquidation with minimal time losses.
