FIELD: welding, namely structure of tungsten electrode for welding with use of submerged arc.
SUBSTANCE: electrode has cylindrical body whose lower part is transformed to triangular prism with rounded ribs. Cross section of electrode is in the form of isosceles triangle whose apex is oriented in welding direction during welding process. Working surface of electrode is formed by cross cutting of its lower part by two electrode pointing planes inclined relative to electrode axis. Line of crossing said planes forms apex of working part of electrode, it is normal relative to height of said isosceles triangle and shifted from electrode axis to side of apex of said triangle. Such electrode provides increased fusion depth without increasing value of welding electric current, increased pressure of electric arc upon welding bath, lowered forces of surface tension of melt metal, improved intensity of agitation of melt metal, decreased erosion of electrode and prevents electric arc diffusion.
EFFECT: enhanced technical parameters of process, increased useful life period of electrode.
