FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in argon-arc welding in inert gases of aluminum alloys, high-alloy steels and titanium alloys. One non-consumable electrode and one consumable electrode are used, which is supplied mechanized into welding bath. Arc from electrodes is lit alternately due to arc disconnection at second electrode, and welding arc is terminated by forced disconnection of current in welding circuit of electrodes. AC power supply source generates heteropolar current pulses of rectangular shape. Positive pole of the power supply source is periodically connected to the non-consumable electrode, and the negative pole - to the consumable electrode. This provides sufficiently high resistance of non-consumable electrode and high rate of melting of consumable electrode, 1.6–2.0 times higher speed on reverse polarity. Stability of fusion rate of electrode wire on direct polarity is achieved due to constant damping and ignitions of arc with high frequency.
EFFECT: important advantage of the method is possibility of independent control of electrode and base metal fusion performances.
