FIELD: mechanical engineering; belt conveyors.
SUBSTANCE: proposed overhead belt conveyor has support frame with closed guide secured on frame at both sides of conveyor and determining conveyor position in space, and endless conveyor belt to which uniformly spaced hangers are connected installed for movement along closed guides. Each pair of hangers located in one plane square to longitudinal axis of conveyor is interconnected by means of strips to which conveyor belt is fastened. Said conveyor has endless traction chain installed for movement along supports. Chain is connected with hangers by flexible plates to transmit tractive force in plane of plate from traction chain to hangers and bending of plate in direction square to its plane. Flexible plates are made in form of sections of conveyor belt.
EFFECT: improved reliability and increased service life of conveyor.
