HYDRO-SYSTEM FOR PROTECTION AGAINST MUDFLOW Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

Abstract RU 2232225 C1

FIELD: hydraulic engineering, particularly engineering work in connection with control or use of streams, rivers, coasts, or other marine sites.

SUBSTANCE: hydro-system is arranged in main river flood-lands into abutting area of debris cones having vertexes located into terminating points of non-eroding through parts of mudflow bed on opposite main river banks. Hydro-system includes longitudinal regulation and closed culvert structures. Longitudinal regulation structure is built from through part with higher vertex of debris cone to opposite bank in direction not coinciding with through part axis. Longitudinal regulation structure has crest elevation not less than elevation of end point of this through part and crosses main river in area located above river junction with through part of mudflow bed in opposite river bank. Closed culvert structure is formed in main river bank and having slope not less than main river slope. Cross-section area of closed culvert structure provides estimated flow through main river bed. Inlet head of closed culvert structure is located from upstream side of longitudinal regulation structure. Outlet head is located downstream junction between low downstream debris cone elements. Channel for passing flows through mudflow channels in periods of mudflow absence is formed along debris cone elements. Closed culvert structure may include multiple channels and may be regulated and made as drainage structure. Longitudinal regulation structure may be formed as ground dam having easy-eroded insert, culvert regulation lock and opened non-regulation multi-span water collection means.

EFFECT: increased reliability due to prevention of main river blockage by mudflow products and prevention of submergence of upstream centers of population and objects.
