FIELD: mechanical engineering; manufacture of engines; piston-type internal combustion engines.

SUBSTANCE: connecting rod is manufactured from alloy of phase composition which is additionally strengthened by inter-metalloid -phase on base of compound dispersedly distributed in -phase; fraction of inter-metalloid -phase in material of connecting rod, as well as content of Al in alloy are different for gasoline and diesel engines. Invention gives description of method of manufacture of connecting rod.

EFFECT: reduction of connecting rod mass to 60% for gasoline engines and to 30% for diesel engines; possibility of obtaining forging of connecting rod close to shape and sizes of finished connecting rod.
