FIELD: rocketry; ejection units for emergency rescue of pilots of flying vehicles equipped with solid propellant rocket engines.
SUBSTANCE: proposed ejection unit includes telescopic ejection gun provided with explosive charge and dual solid-propellant rocket engine. Combustion chamber of engine is separated by diametric partition into two parts: main part and additional part. Main chamber adjoining nozzle unit employs multi-grain charge and additional employs circular grain charge. Grains of both chambers are made from one and the same low-gradient rocket propellant satisfying condition e2≈1.5…2.0 e1, where e1 is thickness of burning arch of grain of main chamber and e2 is thickness of burning arch of grain of additional chamber. Sizes of holes in partition ensure mode of critical escape of gases from additional chamber to main chamber upon completion of charge.
EFFECT: simplified construction; enhanced efficiency.
