FIELD: organic chemistry, chemical technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the improved method for preparing 10-(3-dimethylamino-2-methylpropyl)-2-methoxyphenothiazine (racemate) (I) that is an intermediate substance used in synthesis of medicinal agent levomepromazine. Invention describes a method for preparing 10-(3-dimethylamino-2-methylpropyl)-2-methoxyphenothiazine by interaction of 2-methoxyphenothiazine with 3-dimethylamino-2-methylpropyl chloride in the presence of alkaline agent. Reaction is carried out in the presence of crown-ether as a catalyst and alkaline metal solid hydroxide is used as an alkaline agent carrying out the reaction by azeotropic water distilling off in inert atmosphere. The proposed method provides elevating yield of the end product and to simplify and reduce cost of its preparing also.
