SUBSTANCE: invention relates to lifts with friction drives. Lift is provided with protective device forming temporary closed space in working position together with plate, well door and well walls to provide access to drive motor and/or to control cabinet at preservation of normal operation of lift cabin at sections of well above or below said temporary formed space. Lift is provided with device for temporarily limiting travel of cabin of counterweight which has member located at rest out of cabin or counterweight travel way in area of first guide rail of cabin or counterweight. Said member can turn into working horizontal support position to be placed on way of travel of cabin or counterweight. Support on first guide rail for arrangement of said is found on first guide rail. Said member turns in parallel with plane passing through first and second guide rails or along diagonal directed through said plane. In operating position, said member is supported by said support located on first guide rail and support provided in second guide rail.
