FIELD: petroleum processing.
SUBSTANCE: process is carried out by treating distillates with hydrogen peroxide in presence of catalysts, after which oxidation product is extracted to remove sulfoxides. Catalysts are composed of ketones taken in amounts 0.25 to 5.0% of the volume of feedstock and variable-valence metal peroxo complexes in amounts 0.001 to 0.01% of the weight of feedstock in the form of their solutions in hydrogen peroxide.
EFFECT: increased oxidation rate and conversion of organosulfur compounds in the form of their solutions in hydrogen peroxide.
