METHOD OF MODIFYING FUEL OIL AND APPARATUS FOR IMPLEMENTATION THEREOF Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

Abstract RU 2235113 C1

FIELD: petrochemical processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention concerns heat-and-power engineering, metallurgy, and water transport consuming fuel oil (mazut), which is the object of invention. Fuel oil is modified by preheating it, treating with ozone/air mix, and mixing with water, which process is characterized by that, before ozonation process, fuel oil is excited by exposing it to physical fields followed by fine dispersion, and by that water is ionized by exposing to magnetic field and feeding it in pulverized form. Afterwards, thus obtained mixture is subjected to exposition treatment and additionally ozonized in pulse electromagnetic and electrostatic fields of electrohydrodynamic pulverizer-separator producing, on its outlet, streams, which are different in their physicochemical composition and properties. According to invention, fuel oil is preheated to temperature not superior to 100оС and physical fields affecting fuel oil are crossed electromagnetic, electrostatic, and ultrahigh-frequency fields, whereas fine dispersion of fuel oil is effected in electrostatic field with intensity not below 2 kW/cm and at pressure in inlet of the pulverization unit 0.4-0.6 MPa. Hydrogen index of water treated with ozone and exposed to magnetic field is 6.9-7.2, concentration of OH groups is at least 5 mg/l, that of hydrated electrons at least 2.5 mg/l, and dissolved oxygen factor is 40-60 mg/l. Mixture of excited fuel oil and ionized water is treated for 6-12 min and separate streams leaving pulverizer-separator are those of modified fuel oil, intermediate product, and precipitate. Intermediate product streams are conveyed to additional modification cycle in fuel oil preheating stage. Apparatus according to invention ensures production of more than 90% modified fuel oil on the original volume of fuel oil.

EFFECT: improved commercial and ecologic qualities of fuel oil, which increases service time and economical efficiency of heat assemblies utilizing this fuel oil, and reduced content of injurious substances in flue gases.
