FIELD: phase measurements in radio engineering; manufacture of phase shift standards and phase modulators.
SUBSTANCE: binary input modulating signal x is bifurcated and voltages E1 and E2 are subjected to nonlinear conversion to binary codes in compliance with equation E1= 0.50.5R{(-1)k cos[kmx] - sin[[kmx]} and E2 = 0.50.5R{(-1)kcos[kmx] + sin[[kmx]}, where k 1, km is scale parameter. Frequency F0 of modulated input signal is divided by four and two switching signals of length 1/ F0 are separated in first and fourth quarters of modulated input signal, respectively. Code sequence is shaped by switching binary codes of voltages E1and E2 by means of switching signals obtained. Then code sequence is linearly converted to pulse signal voltage. Proposed method makes it possible to eliminate instrumental error caused by non-similarity of transfer functions of digital-to-analog converters and resistances of signal switch channels typical of analog method.
EFFECT: enhanced precision of phase control.
