FIELD: petroleum processing and petrochemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to preparation of overlay catalyst for hydrofining of oil fractions. Preparation comprises mixing aluminum hydroxide having moisture content 50-80% with ceramic blend 0.01-0,1 mm fraction consisting of 65-76% silica and 24-35% alumina, consecutively adding molybdenum salt, cobalt or nickel salt, and then nitric acid solution in amount sufficient to assure pH 3-4, after which resulting blend is molded in the form of hollow cylindrical granules, which are dried and calcined to give hydrofining catalyst containing 19 to 50% silica.
EFFECT: simplified preparation procedure and increased face crush strength (4-20 MPa).
