FIELD: inorganic compounds technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to sol-gel technology for preparation of spherically granulated ion-exchangers and sorbents based on zirconium hydroxide or oxide as well as catalysts and powders for plasma spraying, and manufacture of high-temperature zirconium dioxide-based ceramics. Method comprises following stages: dissolution of zirconium carbonate in aqueous hydrochloric acid to reach Cl/Zr atomic ratio 0.8-1.8 in solution, electrolysis of chloride solution at 40-100оС to Cl/Zr atomic ratio 0.2-0.5, introduction of soluble group III metal compound into resulting sol, dispersing of the latter in a gelling medium, separation of gel-spheres, washing, drying, and heat treatment.
EFFECT: reduced power consumption and simplified process.
