FIELD: sorbents based on titanium dioxide applicable in treatment of liquid and gaseous process flows and in cleaning of effluent gases and waste water of enterprises from radioactive and toxic matter in atomic power engineering and chemical industry. SUBSTANCE: offered is sorbent MexTi1-xO2·n H2O, where Me is Zr and/or Sn; x=0.01-0.40; n=0.02-2, which has developed surface of 5-350 sq.m/g and crushing strength not less than 15 MPa. Sorbent is spherogranulated (diameter of 0.001-3 mm) material with crystalline structure of two-phase solid solution consisting of anatase and rutile. Content of anatase in phase mixture amounts to 1-99%. Sorbent may be also of composition ZrxTi1-xO2·n H2O or SnyTi1-yO2·n H2O, where x=0.02-0.2; n=0.02-2. Sorbent may be chemically modified. Method for production of sorbent includes the following stages: electrochemical synthesis of sole of hydrate metal oxides, sole dispersion in gelating medium, washing off, drying and heat treatment of granules at temperature up to 700 C.
