FIELD: treatment of metals.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to technique in investigation of metal and alloy surface and can be used for control of carbon steel, low-alloyed steel and alloys, copper alloys as universal etching agent that detects microstructure, defects, inclusions, impurities, dispersed phases of oxides, carbides, liquation and macrostructure, and grains border. Etching agent comprises, wt.-%: nitric acid (ρ = 1.48), 5-10; hydrochloric acid (ρ = 1.19), 30-45; sodium hypochlorite, 50-60. Invention provides enhancing the etching process output, accelerating control in quality of analyzed material, expanding possibilities of etching agent.
EFFECT: valuable properties of etching agent.
