FIELD: radar engineering for measuring rain intensity.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method involves two measurement cycles including irradiation of rain by vertical and horizontal polarization signals, reception of dissipated signals, and measurement of their levels, whereupon measured values of signal levels are used for calculating rain intensity.
EFFECT: enhanced measurement distance afforded by this method.
