SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the improved method for preparing 2,3,4-trimethoxybenaldehyde that is used as an intermediate compound for preparing medicinal preparation - trimetazidine. 2,3,4-Trimethoxybenaldehyde is prepared by interaction of 1,2,3-trimethoxybnzene with dimethylformamide and phosphorus oxychloride at heating, treatment of reaction mixture with water, extraction with organic solvent followed by washing out extract with sodium chloride solution and distillation off under vacuum. Reaction is carried out at 80-85oC and extract is washed out preliminary with caustic alkali 5-10% aqueous solution. Method provides preparing pure compound with melting point 38-40oC and to elevate the yield of the end product up to 79%.
