FIELD: steelmaking.
SUBSTANCE: invention provides high-strength armor steel sheets for manufacture of individual armoring means as well as for manufacturing members of embedded and attached armoring for motor cars, special-destination carriages, and other low-armored machines. Claimed steel contains, wt %: carbon 0.46-0.54, silicon 0.17-0.37, manganese up to 0.5, chromium 2.80-3.20, nickel 1.50-2.0, molybdenum 1.70-2.20, vanadium 0.25-0.35, aluminum 0.01-0.03, sulfur up to 0.012, phosphorus up to 0.012, iron and inevitable impurities - the rest. Summary amount of antimony, arsenic, and tin impurities does not exceed 0.02%.
EFFECT: increased stability of ballistic characteristics, plasticity, and resistance to crack propagation with no loss in high level of strength.
