FIELD: electrical engineering; manufacture of undercut commutators for electrical machines.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes assembly and molding of commutator blank components, that is dove-tailed current-carrying segments and insulating plates, in ring die of mold; commutator blank components are assembled in three stages; at first stage dovetail ends of commutator segments are bent out toward ring die axis; at second stage commutator blank components are extracted from ring die and clearances on outer surfaces of current-carrying segments are covered with easily washed-out foam-forming material; at third stage commutator blank components are reinstalled in ring die whereupon side and inner surfaces of current-carrying segments and insulating plates are coated with heat-resistant material. In the process full-strength fixation and uniform arched thrust of commutator blank components are ensured and the latter are coated with protective layer.
EFFECT: facilitated manufacture, enhanced strength characteristics and operating reliability of commutator.
