FIELD: electric engineering. SUBSTANCE: method involves assembling a commutator article by means of an additional pressing ring and mounting this ring in a matrix so that the ring is held in matrix by friction and matrix interacts to an external rest surface. Then the ends of the commutator article are adjoined with articles which are made from plastic material and are filled with a long-fiber filler which is oriented along circumference. Then method involves pressing housing of commutator in press mould in two stages: firstly rigid connection of matrix to the external rest surface leads to accumulation of restoring deformation power in press mould members; secondly restoring connection of the matrix to the external rest surface leads to release of accumulated power which is used for additional pressure of housing when commutator article is heated. Relative displacement of ring and matrix results in conditions which prevents generation of end seam of commutator housing. Press mould has plungers and matrix which is located between plungers. Additional pressing ring is mounted on matrix for sliding movement and is used for holding commutator article. EFFECT: increased strength, lack of metal reinforcement members, elimination of additional mechanical processing. 6 cl, 5 dwg
