FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes charging cold and hot slabs and control of temperature conditions depending on passage of slabs in furnace zones and time of shutdown of mill for roll changing. Procedure is as follows: hot slabs are loaded only in soaking zone of heating surface of temperature equalization of slab in section and in temperature equalizing zone heated by waste gases. Cold slabs are placed in one of as minimum welding high-temperature zone depending on scope of cold slabs. During motion of hot slabs through welding zones, temperature is decreased by magnitude determined by the following relationship: ΔTred.=15.518exp (0.005Tsl)±30 C, where ΔTred. Is magnitude of reduction of temperature in welding zones. Tsl is temperature of slabs before charging them in heating surface; 15.518 and 0.005 are coefficients, 1/C deg. As these zones are filled with cold slabs, temperature is increased to initial level.
EFFECT: possibility of using maximum amount of hot slabs at minimum consumption of fuel.
