METHOD FOR HEATING AND ROLLING OF METAL ON HOT ROLLING MILLS Russian patent published in 2005 - IPC

FIELD: metallurgy, in particular, heating of slabs in heating furnaces and rolling of metal in hot rolling mills.

SUBSTANCE: method involves transporting cold slabs placed between hot slabs through furnace with temperature of 300-8000C at the initial stage and at the end of mounting process, and increasing gas mixture combustion heat by 100-700 ccal/m3; during transportation through furnace of cold slabs in the mid portion and of hot slabs, along with increasing of fuel combustion heat at the initial stage and at the end of mounting process during transportation through cold furnace at temperature below 3000C, increasing temperature in first welding zone in the course of advancement of slabs by 20-600C; determining slab heating time depending upon fuel combustion heat from ratio: τh=(0.00027Q2-2.956Q+8210)±30 min, where τh is heating time, min; Q is gaseous mixture combustion heat, ccal/m3; 0.00027 and 2.956 are measure coefficients, m3/ccalxmin; providing rolling of metal on mill line with the use of heat-accumulating screens; dividing parts of rolled out product into measured lengths by means of flying shears before reaching the group of finishing passes at charging speed of 5-15 m/s of transported strip to winder.

EFFECT: increased efficiency of heating furnaces and hot rolling mill and, accordingly, reduced specific consumption of assumed fuel and provision for required quality of ready rolled products.
