FIELD: fire-fighting equipment, in particular, extinguishing of fire by gas-aerosol burning inhibitors generated upon combustion of pyrotechnic compound charges.
SUBSTANCE: fire-extinguishing apparatus has casing composed of two plate-shaped vessels attached to one another with gap between their flanges for defining discharge nozzle, gas-aerosol generating pyrotechnic charges fixed in both vessels by means of heat-insulating layer of construction gypsum, and initiating unit made in the form of resistor covered with adhesive ignition compound. Initiating unit is located in axially asymmetric position between pyrotechnic charges, which are mounted flush with heat-insulating layer ends, said layers filling casing vessel flanges, where layer of foamed material is placed. Foamed material layer end is covered with sealing compound, in particular, silicone sealant, with ratio of casing diameter and pyrotechnic charge diameter being 1.7-2.5. Adhesive ignition compound of initiating unit is mixture of epoxy resin and potassium nitrate used in the ratio of 2:3. Apparatus of such construction is preferably used for directing fire-extinguishing mixture into object to be protected from fire on vehicles, ships, stores and industrial premises.
EFFECT: enhanced reliability in operation, increased fire-extinguishing effectiveness owing to increased volume of fire-extinguishing aerosol generated, minimal temperature of gas-aerosol mixture at discharge end of apparatus, and wider range of usage.
