FIELD: protection of metals from corrosion, in particular, protection of steel petroleum, gas and underground pipelines from corrosion.
SUBSTANCE: method involves sequentially providing layers of metal and dielectric coating, with metal layer being formed from metal with potential in medium, where pipeline is laid, more negative than potential of pipeline under process; applying onto preliminarily cleaned surface of steel pipeline under process isolating dielectric plastic coating, onto which spiral metal coating is applied, said metal coating being provided in the form of tape or foil covering outer surface of pipe insulation, with ends of tape or foil being spaced by distance of (0.1-1)d, where d is diameter of pipeline; applying isolating dielectric plastic coating onto metal coating; after mounting of pipeline, electrically connecting ends of tape or foil along the entire length of pipeline through blocks for commutation and measurement of protection parameters, said blocks being equipped with cathodic protection system providing cathodic polarization of pipeline with current density of from 0.01 mkA/m2 to 1,614 mA/m2 from internal and external energy sources.
EFFECT: provision for controlled and reliable protection of steel pipelines laid in different media from corrosion, reduced power consumption and increased service life of metal coating.
