FIELD: foundry, namely processes for casting steel to ingot molds.
SUBSTANCE: composition including heat-insulating and carbon-containing matters is used for heating open heel of metal in ingot mold. Disintegrated claydite is used as heat insulating material. Gas filtration slime from electrolysis bathes for producing aluminum is used as carbon-containing material. Composition includes next relation of ingredients, mass %: claydite, 50 - 70; carbon containing matter, 30 - 50. Such composition provides effective and economical heat insulation of ingot.
EFFECT: enhanced quality of ingot.
