SUBSTANCE: insert includes heat insulation, working and pick up preventing layers. Heat insulation layer contains, mass %: expanded vermiculite, the base; refractory clay, 9 - 15; quartz sand, 9 - 15; melt glass, 30 - 35. Working layer contains, mass %: quartz sand, the base; refractory clay, 9 -19; expanded vermiculite, 3 -6; coke powder, 2 - 8; melt glass, 10 -15. Pick up preventing layer contains, mass %: liquid technical lignosulfonate with density 1.06 - 1.12 g/cub.cm, the base; microcrystalline graphite, 10 - 15.
EFFECT: possibility for eliminating rimming of metal in hot tops and welding of working layer of insert to top of ingot.
