FIELD: non-destruction quality control of products of metallurgical industry with use of electromagnetic - acoustic transducers.

SUBSTANCE: apparatus for contact - free ultrasonic control of merchant rolled shapes and tubes includes transporting line with driving and non-driving rollers, scanning mechanism with electromagnetic-acoustic transducers, first optical pickup for detecting displacement of controlled product, program control unit and multi-channel marker. Apparatus includes in addition second pickups for measuring movement of leading and back ends of controlled product. Said pickups are placed along motion path of product and spaced by fixed distance form coordinate axes. Crossing point of coordinate axes is on axis of optical pickup. Electromagnetic-acoustic transducers are mounted with possibility of motion relative to coordinate system for approaching to controlled product when its leading end is near electromagnetic-acoustic transducers and for removing from controlled product when its back end is near electromagnetic-acoustic transducers. Motion of electromagnetic-acoustic transducers is realized according to order from program control unit. Motion meters are in the form of rollers engaging with controlled product and carrying on their axles pickups for detecting rotation angle of said rollers converting mechanical rotation to electric signals fed to control unit. Position of said rollers and position of marker are fixed relative to origin of coordinate system.

EFFECT: enhanced operational reliability of quality control of rolled products.
