FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: measurement module with acoustic transducers is moved parallel the inspected pipe at the displacement speed of the pipe. At the beginning of inspection, the speed of the measurement module is synchronised with the speed of the inspected pipe, ensuring its movement with speed equal to the travelling speed of the pipe during one revolution of the pipe while completely inspecting the front end of the pipe using the first acoustic transducer. After that the measurement module is stopped and the surface of the pipe is completely inspected on a spiral until the moment the front end of the pipe approaches the second acoustic transducer. The speed of the measurement module is again synchronised with the travelling speed of the pipe while completely inspecting the front end of the pipe using the second acoustic transducer. After that the measurement module is stopped and the pipe is inspected on a spiral until the moment the front end of the pipe approaches the third acoustic transducer and so on, depending on the number of acoustic transducers of different functional purposes installed on the measurement module. At the end of scanning the front end of the pipe, the measurement module is returned to the initial mark and when the rear end of the pipe approaches, the same sequence of moving and stopping the measurement module when inspecting the front end of the pipe is repeated.
EFFECT: complete inspection of pipes in compound motion on rollers.
