METHOD FOR EVALUATING THE DEGREE OF SPINAL DEFORMATION Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

Abstract RU 2238675 C1

FIELD: medicine, orthopedics, traumatology.

SUBSTANCE: the present innovation deals with treating spinal diseases, spinal deformation, in particular, for example, at treating scoliosis and kyphosis. As an object for roentgenological survey one should choose the 12th thoracic vertebra with ribs, for this purpose it is necessary to measure vertebrocostal angles developed due to crossing vertebral vertical axis with frontal axes of the 12th ribs from the left and from the right. Taking into consideration the difference value of these parameters one should determine the degree of spinal curvature: at the value of angular difference ranged 5-10 deg. - degree I, at the value of angular difference ranged 10-20 deg. - degree II, and at the value of angular difference ranged 20 - 30 deg. - degree III and at the value of angular difference being above 30 deg. - degree IV of spinal curvature could be established. It is more comfortable for a patients for it considerably decreases roentgenological loading at performing roentgenological survey.

EFFECT: higher significance of survey.
